Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be gambled on in casinos across the world, or in your house on your personal computer, through a web connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with competing players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will then be "handed out" on the screen.

The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most profitable machine each time.

After the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to increase their profits, in which instance another round is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
