How to Gamble on Video Poker

[ English ]

Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a web account. The regulations are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be "dealt" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to pick the most money-making machine each time.

After the first round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their wins, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
